Focal Laser Ablation
At the Sperling Prostate Center in New York and Florida, prostate cancer patients have access to 3T mpMRI – BlueLaser™ Guided Focal Laser Ablation, a groundbreaking, minimally invasive procedure designed to target and destroy prostate tumors while sparing the remaining healthy tissue.
Focal Laser Ablation at the Sperling Prostate Center is performed by internationally recognized expert Dr. Dan Sperling with minimal-to-no side effects and an unprecedented retention of post-treatment quality of life. Our goal is to control the disease while avoiding collateral damage to sensitive structures all too common with conventional treatments. This means patients enjoy a rapid return to everyday life and full urinary and sexual function.
Clinical Trial in Progress for MRI-Guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) for Prostate Cancer
The Sperling Medical Group is pleased to be participating in a Phase 2 & 3 clinical trial titled “Focal ExAblate MR-Guided Focused Ultrasound Treatment for Management of Organ-Confined Intermediate Risk Prostate Cancer.”
MRgFUS is the integration of two groundbreaking technologies into a precise, noninvasive treatment that destroys the tumor while sparing healthy structures. Real time MRI provides clear visualization of the anatomy and tumor with thermometry (precise measurement of tissue temperature) to monitor precision and effectiveness while focused ultrasound is used to ablate the tumor—no surgery, no radiation.
The anticipated benefits of this treatment are:
- Low complication rate
- Non-invasive treatment, patients back to their life within a day or two
- Non-ionized radiation
- Single session therapy
- Real time MR thermometry monitoring that is used to control treatment outcome during treatment
